It’s 9/11 – it’s SLOGAN Time: leave your minds at the door!

Americans love a slogan and what better slogan to typify our times than Rumsfeld’s, now infamous “shock and awe!” Please note we do not attribute authorship of that slogan to him; the lunacies that issued from his mouth were many and varied. However, on the anniversary of 9/11 we are all reminded of the power of slogans and the events associated with them!
Today, I was somehow re-directed to the American ABC while attempting to access the Oz ABC, not an accident on my part I might add, the page began with a sequence titled the “Faces of Terror,” no surprise considering today’s date. The first picture (no prizes) was of an Australian comedian posing as a Canadian politician but dressed as a Arab -- September 11 today was proving to be as confusing as the American 9/11 -- and I’m not in denial of the 3000 American deaths as the Americans are of the hundreds of thousands of INNOCENT IRAQI deaths!
Some interesting US political mathematics must be involved in defining a person, comedian or otherwise, as a TERRORIST. According to a recent John Hopkins study over one million innocent Iraqi civilians have been killed as a direct CONSEQUENCE of the US led invasion of Iraq, a nation that had nothing whatsoever to do with Bin Laden or 9/11 – its only ‘crime’ is that it holds the second largest oil reserves in the world.
Numbers seem strangely contorted in the USA, 3000 seems to be more horrific when assessing human deaths than a million! Yet during my travels throughout the world, which encompassed a myriad of cultures and experience, ALL the people I encountered belonged to ONE HUMAN RACE.
I can thank the once high quality free public education system in Oz for teaching me the order of numbers and that 2 was a larger number than 1 and that 1,000,000 (one million) was considerably larger than 3000.
The interesting aspect of the display sequence on the American ABC of the “Faces of Terror” were the omissions – those directly responsible for the deaths of over a million innocent civilians – shall we start with Bush, Blair, Howard, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Perle, Kissinger etc etc.
I was only 6 years old when I learnt the order of numbers, is America insulting a 6 year-old child’s ability to count?
Today the only thing I’m in ‘shock and awe’ over is that an entire nation has lost its ability to count or to identify real Terrorists.
Publish this if you dare, Cleaves.
