text Using the TPP to Renegotiate and Expand NAFTA Dana Gabriel via gan, Tuesday, Jun 26 2012, 9:11am
Both Canada and Mexico have been invited to join the U.S., along with other countries already engaged in negotiations which will deepen trade and economic ties within the Asia-Pacific region. Such a deal would surpass NAFTA in size and scope. The U.S. led talks which have been criticized for their secretive nature, could be used to update aspects of existing trade pacts among member nations. This would provide the perfect opportunity for a backdoor renegotiation of NAFTA without officially having to open it back up. (story and 1 comment)

text The Balkanization of Nepal gathers pace Dr. Arun Shrivastava via sadh, Thursday, Jun 21 2012, 1:02am
Nepal’s leadership failed to draft a new Constitution. The mandate of 602-member Constituent Assembly [CA] elected in 2008 ended on 27th May, 2012 without a consensus as to how Nepal should be governed. Total cost of the exercise came to Rs 8,900 million [roughly US$100 million] ending up in endless blame game and petty bickering. The big issue is identity federalism; the intractable issue distribution of power.

text Economics not Sustainability as the Dominant and Destructive Primary Discourse millie, Thursday, Jun 21 2012, 12:23am
When something is established over a relatively long period of social time -- decades in this case -- the 'given' often appears as 'natural,' as is now the case with economics firmly established as the primary social discourse. However, a step outside that dominant discourse reveals an entirely different critical picture than the many deceptive images presented. The world and societies everywhere are going to wrack and ruin largely as a result of the myopic adherence to the economic discourse to the exclusion of more critically important discourses/issues on sustainability and non-monetary matters. That's right darlings, the world/universe has never been reliant on money or driven by economics, it survives -- long term -- on harmony and co-operative relations, not divisive and destructive conflict/war profiteering for financial and corporate elites. So no prizes for guessing which forces have established the economic discourse as the primary political and social 'reality' today. (story and 1 comment)

Chris Hedges image Political Flights of Fancy and Democratic Farces andy, Wednesday, Jun 20 2012, 1:33pm
A crude but effective strategy for limiting discourse and narrowing political choice is to present pre-selected, owned candidates. Take for example the current media saturation on Romney and Obama, two servants of the same ruling elite, and the point is well illustrated! (story and 1 image)

Peter Costello, the original supercilious prick of Oz politics image Austerity for Oz! baz, Friday, Jun 15 2012, 12:41am
Almost on cue, the Banker and Transnational cartels have utilised their faithful SERVANT, former conservative Treasurer, Peter Costello, to submit a report and of course warn of dire consequences for Queensland, arising from the State's debt.

You could almost pick the day this would occur, after UNESCO's warning of threats to the Great Barrier Reef, ARISING DIRECTLY from rampant Corporate EXPLOITATION and the social unrest/protests over under-regulated CSG exploitation, or toxic 'FRACKING,' as it is internationally known. In a thinly disguised effort to 'internationalise' the ADF and weaken its fiercely independent, highly skilled and dedicated, patriotic fighting forces, the treasonous Gillard government has -- on orders from Washington -- implemented a policy to dilute our fighting forces with FOREIGN mercenaries that have no allegiance to anything other than themselves and money! Kamikaze pilots receiving orders image The New Kamikaze Politics of Today quill, Monday, Jun 4 2012, 1:01am
For those not familiar, the term “Kamikaze” is originally Japanese and loosely renders into English as ‘the divine wind.’ It referred originally to Japanese suicide pilots of WWII. These very young pilots willingly died for their ‘Emperor;’ their training hours in the air were minimal, time mostly spent perfecting targeted dives. Their planes were flying bombs packed to the hilt with explosives, in effect they were the first human guided missiles sent to devastate the enemy; very few Kamikaze pilots survived their attacks. text Aussies Turn their Backs on Major Parties smiley, Sunday, Jun 3 2012, 11:31am
The Australian Labor and Liberal Parties have been rejected by the majority of Aussies as unrepresentative sell-outs to Big Business, the Corporations and Washington. How did the Labor Party expect to survive Gillard's disgusting and insulting LIE on the Carbon crucifixion and how did the Liberal Party hope to survive after Howard's shameless, cowardly kowtowing to Washington's every whim to the extent of involving us in America's illegal and immoral civilian killing wars?

ciafundedfacebook.jpg image Chronically Missing the Point tel, Thursday, May 24 2012, 12:33pm
A story that is carried by all the major 'news' networks captures -- to the exclusion of other major news -- the focus of the public. Society remains locked into the existing structure. The veracity of the 'news' story becomes irrelevant if it remains in the news. It captures, whether the 'alternative' media denounces the story or whether the mainstream promotes it. Both reactions reduce awareness by narrowing attention; credibility becomes irrelevant if all media sources entertain a given story. (story and 1 image)

image NATO Chicago Protests Captain, Monday, May 21 2012, 12:20pm
It was heartening to see Iraq and Afghan veterans marching in Chicago with throngs of civilian protesters. Veterans made passionate anti-war statements before throwing their war medals at the NATO venue; "I choose life," one veteran exclaimed as he tossed his medals away. Who knows more about the injustices of war than those that fight it and the innocents unjustly affected by it? Obama and the war mongers have no idea of the horrors of war, which why they so easily advocate war instead of Peace. (story and 2 comments and 1 image)

Sometimes we are jarred back into Reality with all the 'grace' and finesse of a mule kick. That 'kick' can come in many forms, on this occasion it came in the form of a headline from the UK Guardian, here it is unmodified:

President, Hugo Chávez image Chávez's economics lesson for Europe Richard Gott via stan, Wednesday, May 16 2012, 9:00am
Prior to venturing into another philosophically locked article I would mention for those few who may be unaware that Karl Marx was a materialist and an economist! So he offered no real alternative to economics obsessed capitalists. Moving the ball from the forward line to the back line does not change the game or the rules -- as is painfully EVIDENT today.

Enjoy the read but do not forget that neither the 'Left or the 'Right' have any real solutions outside the cause of all the world's problems -- materialist ECONOMICS!
