A lasting imprint or a national characteristic?

national / social/political / commentary

Have no doubt that national leaders leave their ‘mark’ on a nation. Former PM John Howard’s greatest achievement has been largely overlooked, as it was a secondary by-product of his conservative politics of fear and servility. Inadvertently or otherwise Howard succeeded in reshaping the opposition Labor party and creating a Labor leader in his own image! That development has been most unfortunate for Australia, as Howard’s most notable characteristic while in office was COWARDICE! [His second most notable characteristic was servility.]

The international community hasn’t been surprised to learn that current PM, Kevin Rudd, is just another coward and lackey in the same mould as John Howard.

The Indonesians were first to test the mettle of the our new PM via Abu Bakar Bashir, the ‘spiritual leader’ of JI, who taunted Rudd with the usual diatribes and insults; however, on this occasion and in the presence of world leaders gathered for the Bali summit, Bashir directed his insults at the Aussies killed in the Bali bombings. Bashir made his comments while attending a party with the Bali bombers in an Indonesian jail! Few national leaders would have tolerated the abuse levelled at innocent Australians murdered by terrorists and fanatics; however, since the tenure of John Howard, the world has become accustomed to AUSSIE COWARDICE -- what a tragedy! [Australia once produced real leaders, men of character and courage. Contrast Howard protégé, Kevin Rudd, with a number of previous Labor Leaders and weep!]

Hot on the heels of the Indonesian debacle, Rudd withered when confronted with the REALITY of Japanese whaling. Rudd had universal support for his stance against Japanese whaling yet he failed to follow through on his promise to confront the Japanese fleet at sea – the government surveillance vessel remained in dock while the Japanese fleet conducted its despicable slaughter of whales in our region. Rudd went into ‘hiding’ soon after this very public and shameful failure.

Should we mention the immediate lifting of bans on GM crops by two Labor States and the continued pilfering of millions of litres of our precious (NATIONAL) water resource by BHP Billiton? The people are asking themselves what sort of ‘man’ they placed in office to lead the nation? Rudd’s failure to expedite the inquiry into the Haneef affair and his failure to pursue previous ministers and the ‘aluminium tubing’ former PM for war crimes adds to his abysmal record to date.

Allowing that drunken incompetent, Keelty, to remain as head of the AFP is a decision he will soon regret – of that he can be assured! Keelty’s complicity and actions in surrendering the 'Bali nine' to a hostile power to face the death penalty and the (personal) services rendered to Howard's election campaign all require comprehensive investigation, especially attempts to scapegoat Dr. Haneef for purely political purposes. But the issue that promises to permanently damage Rudd and his fellow Labor geldings is the UNJUSTIFIED interest rate hikes by our deregulated, parasitic, Banks!

Perhaps a brief background analysis is warranted at this stage.

Rudd and his treasurer, Wayne Swan, are both Queenslanders – other notables from that State include Jo 'dog’s hind leg’ Bjelke-Petersen, Pauline ‘zieg heil’ Hanson, Russ ‘racetrack’ Hinze, jailed police commissioner, Terry Lewis, Peter ‘black deaths in custody’ Beattie and an assortment of other sordid characters. One thing they all have in common is Queensland sleaze, inferiority and conservatism.

While Rudd hides in his mouse hole, situations that clearly require the firm hand of leadership are left to his ministers to navigate – Rudd imagines he can delegate and run the country like a bureaucracy – wake up Kevin, running a nation is a hands on experience!

Rudd’s Queensland treasurer, Wayne Swan, is clearly not up to the task of managing his portfolio. He has been thoroughly overwhelmed by the Banks; he is behaving like a brainwashed American pilot captured in the Korean war. Swan referred to the latest interest rate hikes as, "unavoidable given what is occurring in terms of the fallout from the US sub-prime crisis." A bank executive couldn’t have put it better – BUT IT’S A LIE!

Whether the Banks have lost vast amounts through “exposure” to the sub-prime crisis or through basic mismanagement and incompetence any attempts to directly recover their losses from an already debt-burdened public are completely unjustifiable. The FAULT LIES WITH THE BANKS; therefore, the responsibility and all costs must be borne by the Banks! Excuses for rate hikes made by Bank representatives are all classic Orwellian double-speak; listen carefully to what they say and research the facts for yourselves, then put Rudd, Swan and Bank CEO, Allan '$35million/year' Moss up against the wall and demand they justify their actions (and salaries). The Banks are lying to cover THEIR ineptitudes and incompetence; they expect the public to bear the cost for THEIR errors and failures of judgement – not on your life! It is time to regulate and prosecute these reprehensible white-collar thieves.

Swan, true to his name, has already taken the ‘dive;’ the Australian people are patiently waiting for their ‘fearless’ leader to deal with the situation in a fair manner – remember the election campaign slogan of the “fair go for all,” you despicable, little turd?

We are ALL waiting, Kevin!
