indy.jpg image U.S. Justice Dept. Demands Independent News Site's User Information Declan McCullagh via krill, Tuesday, Nov 17 2009, 1:13am
It is not widely known that the Cleaves site was developed from the Indymedia (IMC) model. The current CMS software package in use by the Cleaves team is a product of Indymedia Ireland. We acknowledge that our existence (and continuing presence) would not have been possible but for the assistance of the IMC and as a show of solidarity we take this opportunity to throw our support behind our persecuted comrades in the Independent Media. A little skill (asymmetry) makes American surveillance monolith worthless image Skype, the uncrackable peer communicator Chris Williams via Kismo, Friday, Jul 31 2009, 10:31pm
"For years now a steady stream of reports and whispers have emerged that despite their batteries of supercomputers, intelligence agencies are frustrated by Skype's anonymity and strong encryption. Its base in Estonia also means the firm is out of the reach of the US lawful intercept laws and UK export legislation, which forces any firm supplying encryption technology to show GCHQ the backdoor." Toni Collette image The POWER is/in the ART and in those that produce it! quill, Wednesday, Jul 29 2009, 6:44pm
Underrated for too long, Aussie artist (actress) Toni ‘awesome’ Collette, recently accepted a challenging role for a TV series in the, bereft of talent, criminal USA. Collette plays four (five if you count Toni) characters emanating from ONE character suffering multiple personality disorder, a condition not unfamiliar to the paralysed, sedated masses! Murdoch, straight as a dog's hind leg! image The measure of a scurrilous Media Mogul Kismo, Saturday, Jul 11 2009, 5:30pm
Amid substantiated reports that Rupert Murdoch’s ‘journalists’ illegally accessed the voice mails and other private data of citizens in the UK, mandatory internet censorship in Australia proceeds undeterred; though it is NOW clear that the original excuse, ‘child porn,’ is a Trojan horse allowing a host of other sites, peer file sharing, and adult GAME sites, to be filtered! The real agenda -- stemming losses to Murdoch’s Entertainment and Media Empire -- should now be apparent to everyone. Murdoch’s SORDID CHARACTER is revealed by this latest scandal, notwithstanding his membership in the CFR and secretive Bilderberg group. Take note Oz, this is the man that dictates policy to Australian politicians! Take a good look at Murdoch’s servants, Rudd, Swan, Smith and Conroy, and then try to imagine these lackeys with spines – impossible! (full story and 1 image)

This past week in Oz could easily be described as surreal. Based on a fraudulent email, the opposition leader, Malcolm Turnbull, launched an exceedingly amateurish, overconfident, FAILED attack on Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Treasurer Wayne Swan -- your longing exceeds your ability, NOVICE! googleevil.jpg image Here's hoping Google gets hammered James Kirby via sadh, Sunday, May 31 2009, 6:21pm
It's a sad day when the battle for digital information is between two of the world's most obscene IT Companies, Microsoft and Google. Neither self-serving company has the interests of the public at heart, especially in China, and in the West if hidden information detailing Google's unsavoury relationship with NSA and other security agencies became known! Microsoft is no better having once supplied a 'backdoor' to its Operating System at the request of the NSA. Nevertheless, the stranglehold Google has on information is far worse than the author intimates -- any real democratic government would have legislated long ago forcing Google to relinquish its hold on information searches. Idiotic governments seem to be unaware of today's digital axioms: 'Whoever controls the flow of information rules the world', including governments! Let's hope the open source community gets a viable product out there soon -- then lobbying can begin in earnest! Ed. (full story and 3 images)

text Washington Disinformation continues to emanate from subservient Australia! quill, Friday, May 29 2009, 4:59pm
A well constructed report on the LTTE defeat by the Sri Lankan military was aired on Radio Australia today, a 7 out of 10 effort! It is refreshing to see Australia NOT making news for xenophobia, racism and its shameless, servility to the United States – ‘for a change!’ Nevertheless, America is never far removed from its most servile colony. text Cyber Warfare: Building Attack Tools for Mass Destruction Tom Burghardt via Kismo, Friday, May 29 2009, 3:25am
A quintessential hallmark of an authoritarian regime, particularly one that operates within highly-militarized, though nominally democratic states such as ours, is the maintenance of a system of internal control; a seamless panopticon where dissent is equated with criminality and the rule of law derided as a luxury ill-afforded "during a time of war." Phil Gould crying! image Infantile Nation: Gang Bang vs ‘Professional’ Services velvet, Friday, May 15 2009, 7:16pm
I have been waiting patiently for a commentator, journalist or academic to write a rebuttal to the prurient media frenzy surrounding a top grade Aussie footballer’s sexual misadventures, subsequent SCAPEGOATING and social crucifixion by the ‘dingo ate my baby,’ Oz mass media! However, not unexpectedly, NONE have been forthcoming – not surprising, as sensationalism replaced integrity in Oz journalism decades past! (full story and 2 images)

Is your favourite media outlet relentlessly pursuing KNOWN, SELF-CONFESSED, and other (proven) WAR CRIMINALS? NO! Then it’s not acting in the PUBLIC INTEREST! REAL journalism acts as society’s CONSCIENCE; it does not compromise in its pursuit of KNOWN war criminals until justice is served – has JUSTICE been served yet? (full story and 1 image)

Murdoch, empire in decline image Murdoch orders Rudd to implement fibre optic to the HOME! gan, Thursday, Apr 9 2009, 4:42am
After fumbling Rupert’s last dictate – mandatory internet censorship -- the Oz labour government is embarking on a broadband scheme which puts new meaning in the terms ‘overkill’ and ‘wild spending!’ A forty three (43) BILLION dollar nationwide project to install fibre optic to the home! That is a crazy amount of public money in view of the fact that government is the least qualified organisation to undertake such a project. (full story and 3 comments and 2 images)

text Jon Stewart becomes angry public's avenger Howard Kurtz via reed, Monday, Mar 16 2009, 3:23pm
WASHINGTON — Jon Stewart has amassed a passionate following as a sharp-edged satirist who punctures the balloons of the powerful with a caustic candor that reporters cannot muster. As public furor over the economic meltdown rises, the Comedy Central star has turned not just his humor but his full-throated outrage against financial journalists who he says aided and abetted the likes of Bear Stearns, AIG and Citigroup, especially those who work for the nation's top business-news channel. Schoolboy Minister, Stephen Conroy image Clean feed filtered out Mitchell Bingemann via liberty, Wednesday, Mar 4 2009, 2:33am
Mandatory information censorship is a suicide pill for any Oz government but none swallowed it more effectively than Rudd's Murdoch controlled Lay-bore government of bereft incompetents. And Stephen Conroy takes 'star' billing as incompetent #1. Peter 'backflip' Garrett whose anti-uranium stance had all the integrity of a chameleon in a paint shop, is ecstatic that Conroy has taken the albatross from around his neck. text The fix is in: Oz mandatory internet filtering Kismo, Friday, Feb 13 2009, 6:30pm
Corporate errand boy and Oz Communications Minister, Stephen Conroy, has selected a group of minor (compliant) ISPs (see link) to conduct his INFORMATION CENSORSHIP tests. Telstra, iinet and Optus, by far the three largest carriers in the country, have ‘somehow’ been excluded from the tests, which would throw into question any results obtained with non-representative carriers – it’s a MATTER OF SCALE, stupid! text Obama and Washington Mythmaking Robert Parry via reed, Saturday, Dec 20 2008, 3:31pm
Over the years, Washington has evolved into a city of deceptions where semantics cloud reality and where a hazy mix of lies, half-truths and mythology can combine to unleash the devastating military might of the United States for no good reason. Indeed, if there were to be a serious effort to "change the mindset" that got the United States into the Iraq War - as Barack Obama has promised - one place to start would be to force Official Washington to take a long hard look in the mirror. Errand boy, Conroy image Internet Censorship in Oz bashed by dominant Telco quill, Saturday, Dec 6 2008, 5:04pm
It is becoming abundantly clear to every Australian that the Rudd Labor Government hasn’t a clue. After one year in office the PM, Kevin ‘07’ (Dud) and his pack of no-hoper ministers have demonstrated their collective inability to deal with the major issues confronting the nation; not least of which is upgrading the archaic broadband network -- known to be a liability on all users, especially the business, medical, scientific and agricultural/rural communities.
